Jim Leyland – Possibly the End of an Era
Jimmy Smokes threw in the towel on his managing days yesterday, and for me it was a sad day in baseball.
Old, cantankerous, soft hearted, smoking, drinking, leathery…..all qualities that have long been since replaced by high priced slicksters with gold bracelets, perfect hair and a politically correct demeanor. Gone from the vernacular are terms like “There’s no crying in baseball.”
I for one think the guy did an amazing job and retires as the 15th with the most wins, gave Detroit some hope and never let the fans down for excitement.
Thanks for the work Skipper!
