Jimmy Buffett's music may one day come to Broadway. Producers have announced that a musical based on Buffett's tunes is in the works featuring an original story by writers Greg Garcia and Mike O'Malley.

If those names sound familiar, they should. Garcia wrote and created the TV shows 'My Name Is Earl' and 'Yes, Dear', the latter of which starred O'Malley, who also hosted the NIck show 'Guts'.

The production, which is expected to premiere sometime in 2017, will be directed by Christopher Ashley.

“The idea of turning Margaritaville into a musical has been percolating for quite a while, but finding the right people to tell the right kind of story to go with the right songs from my catalogue took some time," Buffett said in a statement. "Now we have found our crew and I am happy to sail with them to Margaritaville. It's going to be a fun voyage."

Buffett was involved in a stage production before, writing music inspired by a Herman Wouk novel called 'Don't Stop The Carnival' that was later adapted for the stage in Miami. Check out one of the songs below.
