Chris Osgood, the second-winningest goaltender in Red Wings history, will announce his retirement on Tuesday, a source confirmed to Booth Newspapers on Monday. That's pretty huge. Say what you will about Ozzie...he did win 3 Cups and a whole lot of games for the Wings.

Now the task of bringing the Wings back to the promise land falls squarely on the shoulders of Jimmy Howard. Ken Holland has basically said "Son, the ball is now yours. Run with it" Let's face it, Ty Conklin isn't going to win the Junior Griffins a title, let along the Red Wings, so it's Howard's game to win now.
