It may be cruel, but it's also entertaining. Every Halloween for the past few years, talk host Jimmy Kimmel urges his late night audience to tell their kids they ate all of their Halloween candy, record it, and post it online.

I know if my Dad did this to me when I was seven, I'd have blown a gasket. These kids did just that.

It's literally taking candy from babies, isn't it? Well, pretending like you took it. In the end, the kids get their candy back, but was it worth all the drama? Yes. It is.

My favorite is the kid who senses it's a joke, asks if it is, and then promises 'to check, and if my candy's missing, you're in big trouble, young lady!'

The tradition is so entrenched that even actor Mark Ruffalo did it to his kids and brought the video to the show.
