Joe Walsh may be giving more than just musical performances to the Australian people when the Eagles head Down Under in December. The rocker has offered up his services as a drug and alcohol abuse counselor to Australian Premier of Victoria John Brumby.

"I'd love to speak to leaders and politicians in Melbourne, and around Australia, about addiction," Walsh said in a recent interview with Australia's Herald Sun.

"Addiction is a disease and, with help, people can get back to being responsible members of the community. I hope to give your [Australia's] leaders that message," he added.

Walsh battled drug and alcohol addiction early in his career both with the James Gang and the Eagles. He has been clean and sober for 17 years.
