After another perfect 6-0 weekend, it's clear I have my pulse on the state college football scene. The trouble is, it gets harder now that conference play has started.

Let's see what I have on tap for this weekend.

#13 Northwestern at #18 Michigan -- 3:30pm Saturday

Michigan's defense has been stifling the past two weeks, rolling up shut outs against BYU and Maryland. The truth is, if wasn't for a great catch in the end zone by UNLV, the Wolverines would be going for four straight shutouts this weekend. Northwestern has been as big of a surprise in the Big Ten as Michigan has, although the Wildcats have looked slightly more erratic at times, turning the ball over at times. If Michigan's D gets a few turnovers, this one will be over early. Michigan 20, Northwestern 7

#4 Michigan State at Rutgers -- 8:00pm Saturday

The Spartan faithful were not happy with the sloppy way the Spartans played last week against Purdue. Mark D'Antonio will not let that happen again. In their first Big Ten road test, Sparty piles it on. MSU 42, Rutgers 16

Central Michigan at Western Michigan -- noon Saturday

Both teams tuned up for their MAC season by playing some of the best teams in the country. CMU's defense forced Northern Illinois into some huge turnovers to get a big win at home last week. Don't look for Western to be that giving in this the annual 'Couch Burning Bowl'. This game will be hard hitting and close. WMU 23, CMU 20

Ferris State at Tiffin (Ohio) -- 1:30 Saturday

After squeaking by Findlay last week, the Bulldogs get another tough road game when they stroll into the Dragons' Den. I doubt that Coach Tony Annese will let them play sloppy two weeks in a row. Ferris 34, Tiffin 22

GVSU at Wayne State -- 6:00 pm Saturday

The Lakers better be careful, because the Warriors play them tough at home. It's a trap game for GVSU, but this team seems more disciplined than last year, so cooler heads will prevail.  GVSU 27, Wayne State 16
