Another 5-1 effort last week (damn you, Western!) pushed my season record to 48-7, but this week is where the rubber meets the road, as the NCAA Division II playoffs start for Grand Valley and Ferris State, and the Big Ten gets down to the nitty gritty with two tough contests.

So let's get it started...Her's my predictions for this week, as well as a video breakdown of Ferris and Grand Valley's games this weekend by their respective coaches.

Michigan State (10-1) at Ohio State (11-0), 3:30pm Saturday, Ohio Stadium, Columbus OH -- All the complaining about bad calls and easy schedules comes down to this for the Spartans and the Buckeyes: win out the remainder of your schedule and you're in the College Football Playoffs. You mean it's decided on the field? Damn straight. Sparty heads to Columbus with its best offensive weapon, Quarterback Connor Cook nursing a sore wing. That's unfortunate, because Ohio State's pass ruch is pretty damn difficult. OSU 23, MSU 16

Michigan (9-2) at Penn State (7-3), noon Saturday, Beaver Stadium, State College PA -- The Wolverines can control their own destiny if, and only if, Ohio State defeats Michigan State. State College is not an easy place to play, especially this time of the year. Luckily, the once mighty M defense matches up a lot better with the Lions than they did last week at Indiana. Hold your breath, this game could go either way. Michigan 27, Penn State 21

Texas A & M Commerce (8-3) at Ferris State (10-0), noon Saturday, Top Taggert Field, Big Rapids MI -- Ferris has not had good luck in the NCAA Division II playoffs, and they get a pretty tough draw off the top here as they host the champions of the Lone Star Conference in football tough Texas. Fortunately, the Bulldogs have Harlan Hill trophy nominee Jason Vander Laan running their offense, and snow in the forecast. Ferris 33, Commerce 16

Grand Valley State (9-2) at Ashland (10-0), noon Saturday, Ashland OH -- The Lakers just played Ashland three weeks ago, falling short 45-31 on the same field they'll meet on Saturday. Ashland has trailed in home games this season a total of 4 minutes, 42 seconds, most of that against the Lakers. This will be another shootout and will come down to who turns the ball over the least, and who gets the big stop on defense. Ashland 37, Grand Valley 33
