Ho-hum. This perfection is all getting a bit boring as last week, I rolled my record to an impressive 34-4 on the season.

But as we progress through the season, predicting the winners gets harder as the games get more meaningful and playoff spots are on the line.

In the words of Donald Trump, this week has some YYYUUUGGGEEEE games, so on with the prognosticating!

NOTE: Michigan State is off this week, and Western Michigan played Thursday night (defeating Eastern Michigan 58-28 to stay undefeated in the tough MAC West).

Michigan (5-2) at Minnesota (4-3), 7:00pm Saturday, Minneapolis -- The Little Brown Jug sits in a trophy case in Minneapolis, and the Wolverines would like nothing better than to steal it and cart it back to Ann Arbor, but it won't be easy. The Wolverines have had two weeks to dwell on the MSU disaster, and Minnesota will be hyped up and emotional following the mid-season retirement of beloved coach Jerry Kill due to medical issues. This will be tighter than Michigan wants it. Meeesssshhhheeeggaannn 22, Minnesota 17.

Central Michigan (4-4) at Akron (3-4), 2:00pm Saturday, Akron, OH -- The Chippewas can't afford to lose another game if they want to stay in the thick of a very tight MAC West title chase. Winning on the road is always tricky in the MAC and Akron is improved, although they're out of the running in the weaker MAC East Division. CMU 27, Akron 21

Grand Valley State (7-1) at Ashland (8-0), 7:00pm, Ashland, OH -- This game has a lot riding on it. The Lakers are currently 9th in the NCAA Division II national ratings, while Ashland is fifth. In the Super Region 4 Playoff rankings, GVSU is 4th and Ashland 6th, with the top seven teams in the region getting playoff bids. Ashland has been banking on their defense for years, and this year their offense has matched the effort. The home field will be a big advantage to the Eagles, but in the end, GVSU has just enough to get a big win. GVSU 34, Ashland 27.

Ferris State (7-0) at Lake Erie (2-6), 1:00pm, Saturday, Painesville, OH -- The Storm has not made much of an impact in the GLIAC this season. The Bulldogs, who lead the Super Region 4 rankings, and the Conference, should roll. FSU 47, Lake Erie 17.

BONUS: With Western having played early this week, I thought I'd throw in a bonus game, and make it harder on myself.

Notre Dame (6-1) at Temple (7-0), 8:00pm Saturday, Lincoln Financial Field, Philadelphia -- Temple is the Cinderella of the football world so far this season, rolling up 7 wins to start their season for the first time ever. Notre Dame, meanwhile, needs a quality win to stay in the national title picture. Watch and see if ND's quarterback, DeShone Kizer, has a hard time early reading Temple's perplexing defensive scheme. If he does, it could be a long night for the Irish, if he doesn't, the Irish will roll. Notre Dame 24, Temple 12.
