It's no secret here in the Wolverine State that Brady Hoke's seat is sizzling as the University of Michigan football coach.

A less than stellar 2-4 start, combined with the mishandling of QB Shane Morris' head injury has the flames under that seat being stoked even higher.

So here's a weird idea. Why not hire ESPN TV analyst Jon Gruden to coach? It seems back in 1984, he was lobbying for the job.

Gruden coached in the NFL ranks, leading the Oakland Raiders and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to playoff berths, and in Tampa's case, a Super Bowl title. He has expressed interest in coaching at the college level, and although his name has been rumored to be on several short lists for big name jobs, it's never gone beyond that.

Dan Whitaker, a student at the University of Dayton, uncovered Gruden's player profile when he was a young back up at Dayton, and it appears he wanted the Michigan job while he was still in college. Whitaker, who hails from Dexter, tweeted the profile this week, perhaps implying that
