David Katoatau of the tiny island nation of Kiribati dances after each lift during the Olympic weightlifting competition.

And because the officials at Rio chose green as the backdrop color for the Olympic Games, amateur video editors can easily slip him into many different dance scenarios.

Green screen technology is what allows TV technicians to drop different elements behind in-studio hosts. Most weathermen, for instance, are standing in front of a green screen so that they can have different weather maps dropped in behind them.

So when green turned up as the main back drop at many Olympic venues, it allowed at home videophiles to put the athletes in different imaginary scenarios.

Katoatau dances at international weightlifting events for a very sad reason. He does it to highlight the plight that his island nation is sinking into the ocean due to rising seawaters caused by global warming.

He told the Reuters News Agency “Most people don’t know where Kiribati is. I want people to know more about us so I use weightlifting, and my dancing, to show the world. I wrote an open letter to the world last year to tell people about all the homes lost to rising sea levels. I don’t know how many years it will be before it sinks.”

Therefore, he's probably pleased an amateur video editor has added some interesting scenes behind his dance steps.
