Tuesday, Mariah Carey was three hours late to tape her performance for last night's “Christmas in Rockefeller Center” show on NBC. So she had to perform it live. It did not go too well.

Carey had a 7pm Tuesday call time to pre-record her singing “All I Want for Christmas is You” for the NBC tlecast, which aired last night.

A source said, “She was going to be backed by an adorable troupe of child dancers clad head-to-toe in snow-white winter-wear.” She was also supposed to film a promo that would’ve featured her riding in a horse and carriage on Fifth Avenue – and NBC had a permit to close traffic lanes.

after discussing custody and visitation issues with her estranged husband Nick Cannon's people, Mariah showed up three hours late. By that time, NBC had pulled the plug on everything and sent the audience home. Even the production team had packed up.

E! Online has a different take on the events, implying her diva-like behavior got the best of her,

To make it up to NBC, Mariah performed the song live, which, if you watched it, you realize it did not sound so good, she was "pitchy" at best, off key at worst.

Allegedly, NBC sound crew members, perhaps miffed at having to wait in the cold three hours the night before, released her isolated vocal track from the less than stellar performance on the internet this morning, giving Miss Carey a healthy dose of karma.
