We know Keith Richards loves the island life (even if it doesn't always love him), and he's channeled those laid-back rhythms into a pair of reggae recordings for an upcoming charity compilation.

Richards appears on 'Playing for Change 3: Songs Around the World,' the latest CD/DVD release from the Playing for Change Foundation, a non-profit "created to inspire, connect, and bring peace to the world through music," primarily through supporting music and arts education. Out June 17, the new 'Playing for Change' record follows the pattern set by previous releases, using portable recording gear to unite famous names with street performers in a variety of far-flung locations.

The Rolling Stones guitarist contributed a reggae recasting of 'Words of Wonder,' a song from his 1988 'Main Offender' solo album, as well as a cover of the Bob Marley classic 'Get Up Stand Up.' Like many of the other tracks on the album, his contributions were a collaborative affair; blues veteran Keb' Mo' appears alongside Richards, as well as members of the PFC Band and Aztec Indians. Other performers on 'PFC 3' include Taj Mahal, Sara Bareilles, and members of Los Lobos.

"We traveled to record and film Keith Richards in the Caribbean and for days there was not a cloud in the sky,” Playing for Change co-founder Mark Johnson told Billboard. “One the day of the recording a storm came from out of nowhere and it rained like crazy all day until right before sunset. When Keith appeared by the beach the clouds literally parted from the sky, a fire pit started to burn and we where ready to record the legend."
