Metallica's Lars Ulrich is ready to join in the fun.

Having already held their own doppelganger drum battle, actor Will Ferrell and Chad Smith earlier this week challenged Ulrich to yet another -- all in hopes of again sparking a few laughs while raising funds for the Cancer for College charity.

Challenge accepted: "It was a little lonely on the sidelines during the first drum-off," Ulrich says via Facebook, "given the somewhat forced nature of the lookalike element between Chad Smith and Will Ferrell, when I'm truly the one carrying that dead-ringer gene around!"

Smith, a member of both the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Chickenfoot held an on-screen duel with Ferrell during a 'Tonight Show' episode last month. The drum-off followed years of in-jokes about their nearly identical appearance. No date has yet been set for this three-way sequel.

"I'm sure that, with a bit of practice, I could give Chad a run for his money," Ulrich added, tongue firmly in cheek. "But Will? That's a whole different story. He rules the 'bad-ass drummer universe.' I mean, you're talking about a guy who's so next level, actually, so beyond next level, that he may just be completely unreachable! That said, I'm definitely up for the challenge. Bring it on!"

Smith responded in kind, taking to Facebook to offer "two pieces of advice for Lars: Leave the double bass drums at home and load up on cowbells!"
