The first day of Summer officially begins at 1:16pm today (6/21)  and it's gonna be a hot and muggy day.  I think we should celebrate by jumping into a lake.  There is a chance for thunderstorms but some of the meteorologists are saying the heavy stuff may hold off until later this afternoon or evening.  So let's not cancel fun outdoor activities today.

I checked the water temperature in Lake Michigan at Grand Haven State Park and it is right around 60 degrees.  That may be too much of a cool down.  You may want to stay closer to Grand Rapids and warmer water at Millenium Park.

Millennium Park has a six-acre sand beach and large splash pad.

Though admission is free to the rest of the park, there is an admission fee to use the beach area.  But it's worth it!

You may also want to jump into one of our many lakes near Grand Rapids.  Lakes, like Gun lake near Wayland, do have public swimming areas.
Or you may want to "kill two birds with one stone" by running through the sprinkler in your yard and water the grass at the same time.

Whatever you do, I hope you have a chance to celebrate the First Day Of Summer!
