The Michigan Department of Natural Resources has announced that the Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund Board has recommended a land purchase of 337 acres at a cost of $12.5 million to add to Ludington State Park.

The new announcement recommends an additional $7.5 million to the $5 million which was previously recommended to grow the size of Ludington State Park.

The property, currently owned by Sargent Minerals-Ludington LLC, has long been viewed as a high priority for the state to acquire to add to Ludington State Park which is one of the most-visited state parks in Michigan. The land has dunes, inland water features, and other features.
