Back in 1994, twin girls from Lansing put a message in a container and set afloat down the Grand River. Sunday, while hunting for morels in Ionia, Terry Smith found it.

Smith, who was here looking for the tasty mushrooms from Ohio, said the note was in pretty good condition, and it set him on a hunt for the twin girls who sent it off 21 years ago, so he posted a photo of the message on social media, where it was shared countless times and wound its way to Lansing TV station WILX Channel 10.

The note was written by twins Leah and Angela that would have been born in 1982.

Many were soon sharing the photos via Imgur, and see the photos via the link below.

Less than 24 hours later, Leah Sedelmeier came forward to claim authorship of the note.

"I'm shocked I'm totally shocked," she told Channel 10. "I was just "was this us?" you know, like I don't know. It's strange."

She doesn't remember putting it all together.

"We used to play in this creek that's back here in the neighborhood; and, we used to make rafts and have races with them. I totally believe we would've done something like that,"

Now, she's reconnected with Angie to try to piece together a 20-year-old memory.
