McDonalds Has A New Mascot

Think back to the earlier days of fast food and TV. Remember all the "McDonaldland" characters? Of course the most famous is Ronald McDonald. (2 fun Ronald Facts. 1, his name was supposed to 'Donald McDonald', and 2, the first Ronald on TV was famous on-air weatherman Willard Scott!) Then there was the Hambuglar, and Grimace.

Of course you can't forget Mayor McCheese, and the little bird..what was her name? Oh who knows. Now there is a nee McDonalds character. The new mascot for the McDondals happy meal. The name? Happy!

Here's a story from The Wire called "McDonald's New Mascot Will Scare Your Children Away from Happy Meals"--their words, not mine!

"Meet Happy, McDonald's terrifying new mascot. Happy is an animated Happy Meal Box, completely with soul-scanning eyes, a black hole mouth, and judgey arms, Happy is the new ambassador of the restaurant's new healthy Happy Meals. Maybe McDonald's is trying to scare children into eating their vegetables.

Happy is the "ambassador for balanced and wholesome eating." He is encouraging kids to eat the healthy Happy Meal options: fruits, vegetables, low-fat dairy and water or juice. He is especially welcoming of the new Low Fat Strawberry Go-Gurt. Because nothing says "finish your carrot sticks" like a psychotic stare from the side of a box."

You make up your own mind. He looks kinda creepy, but when has McDonalds ever steered us wrong before? :)
