It was a near sell out crowd at the Fred Meijer Gardens - and for good reason.  Michael Mcdonald took to the stage just after 8PM - and it was non stop music from there.  He opened with two classic Doobie Brother Songs. From there, he went into "Sweet Freedom" and to a surprise to many, he then comment that they he was going to do a song he co-wrote with Carly Simon - "You Belong to Me". From there it more some more classic Doobies, and solo hits, and even "Ya Mo Be There" - which was a surprise and even an outstanding cover of a Classic Ray Charles tune. From there, it was a couple of Motown Classics - including a rousing version of "I Heard it Through the Grapevine" which got the crowd on it's feet! Back to some more Doobies with "What a Fool Believes" and the crowd loved it.  He Returned for an Encore with a cover of Clapton tune and then "Takin' it to the Streets" to wrap the Encore.

For a guy in his 60's, Mcdonald was outstanding.  Vocals, Piano and the backing band was just as good.   Great summertime concert in West Michigan. I was surprised and how good the show was. I expected good, but it was outstanding.
