A Michigan community is feeling the spirit of this season of giving by coming together to help one of its own.

50-year-old Tony Berard bikes 14 miles to work every day. He works an overnight shift at a supermarket seven miles away from his home, where he takes care of his wife who is both physically and mentally ill.

One night last week, Jason Kapoor drove past Tony who was riding his bike in the snow and stopped to offer him a lift. Jason says, "I just recently heard about a man who was killed after getting hit by a car on his bike nearby. I didn't want to see that same thing happen to Tony."

After giving Tony a lift to work, Jason gave him his number and told him to call anytime he wanted a lift. But he still wanted to do more.

When Jason got home, he posted about his encounter on Facebook and people immediately suggested setting up a GoFundMe campaign to raise enough money so that Tony could buy a car. Before he knew it, the campaign raised $18,000 – enough to buy Tony a Chrysler Town & Country minivan. A local restaurant has also pledged to pay his first year of insurance.

Tony says, "I was at a loss for words. It still truly hasn't hit me yet. Five years of riding my bike around and now I will no longer have to."
