I'm all for freedom of choice, but I'm sorry, the rest of the nation is wrong and we are right when it comes to what meat we slap on the grill on our nation's birthday.

Now get off my lawn!

Nationally, 39 states prefer Hamburgers to Hot Dogs for their Fourth of July cookouts. Where did Michigan fall? On the side of Hot Dogs, of course, because they are more American than Hamburgers. Why else would their be a hot dog eating contest on the Fourth?

Walmart tracked their sales during the past four weeks to figure out what people are buying for their summer cookouts.  And here's what they found . . .

1.  Hot dogs are only more popular than hamburgers in 11 states:  Michigan, Maine, Vermont, West Virginia, North Carolina, Alabama, Minnesota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Alaska, and Hawaii.  Every other state buys more burgers.

2.  There's not a single state where mustard outsells ketchup. (Although, have you ever tried dipping your fries in Mustard? You should. It's darn delicious!)

3.  There are only 14 states where coleslaw is a more popular side dish than potato salad:  Michigan, Alaska, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia.
