My record last week jumped up to a solid 8-3 picking state college football games this season, but now the going gets tougher, as state rivalries renew, making them WAY harder to pick.

So who ya got? The Lakers or the Dogs?

Air Force at Michigan State -- Saturday, Noon

This is a trap game for the Spartans, as they come off the high of a huge nationally televised victory over the Oregon Ducks. But be careful, Sparty, because this Air Force team is very good and runs the triple option well. Michigan State 27, Air Force 17

UNLV at Michigan -- Saturday, noon

The Rebels from Las Vegas are an awful football team, so if there's any stumbling by the Wolverines in this one, Jim Harbaugh will blow a gasket and his head will probably explode. This is a great chance for his struggling offense to their crap together. Michigan 45, UNLV 6

Central Michigan at Syracuse -- Saturday, 12:30pm

If last year's blow out in Mount pleasant is any indication, it will be LONG afternoon for the Chippewas. Syracuse's offense has looked very good in two easy wins over Rhode Island and Wake Forest. The Chippewas defense may be better than billed, so that's there only hope. Syracuse 34, CMU 14

Murray State at Western Michigan -- Saturday 7:00 pm

The Broncos come in still searching for the first victory of they year after getting rattled on the road last week at Georgia Southern. Look for them to punish Murray State's sad excuse for a football team to get back on track. WMU 42, Murray State 7

Ferris State at Grand Valley State -- Saturday, 7:00pm

This isn't just for the Anchor-Bone Trophy, it's for a big early advantage in the national title hunt in the NCAA's Division II. The Lakers won a huge game on the road last week against the defending GLIAC champions Ohio Dominican. That's the same Dominican team that eliminated Ferris in last year's D-2 playoffs. The Lakers have swagger right now, but the Dogs have quarterback Jason Vander Laan. Ferris 37, GVSU 22

Concordia (WI) at Hope -- Saturday, 1:00pm

Both teams are searching for their first win in this game, which is part of the MIAA/NACC Challenge series. Hopefully, the home field will be the difference is this one for the Dutchmen, who have been struggling on offense, may get a break from a Concordia team who has already surrendered 77 points in two games this season. Hope 23, Concordia 20
