I've long been a fan of NBC's American Ninja Warrior TV show. As a former athlete, I marvel at the things these guys can do.

So when Ypsilanti's Zach Gowen showed up last night to do the world's toughest obstacle course, I was doubly impressed.

Zach, who lost his left leg to childhood cancer, decided to run the course without his prosthetic leg. Yup, that's right, he attempted to do the course on one leg.

Now that takes some guts, and some serious upper arm strength. Although, in the end, it was a little too much and wound up in the water.

But it was a gutsy performance, one that won over fans of the show nationwide.

Zach also posted a video of his training, and his life philosophy and how the power of thinking can get you to do amazing things.
