After a post that showed the top rated films on IMDB set in each U.S. state went viral last year, an author decided to take that concept and apply it to television. The result was two posts aimed at determining the most-watched TV show set in each state and the most popular TV show set in each state.

According to the author at mic.com, Michigan's most-watched TV show set in the state of Michigan is Home Improvement. The author of the article used each show's series finale rating as measured by Nielsen as our metric. The highest series finale viewership serves as the most-watched from the state.

Some of our neighbors most-watched shows set in their respective states are Family Ties for Ohio, The Fugitive for Indiana, Roseanne for Illinois, and Happy Days for Wisconsin.

The next article determined the most popular television show set in each state. The show was determined by IMDb ratings as well as Nielsen ratings. Michigan's most popular show that was set in our state was none other than the short lived Freaks and Geeks.  Despite the show only lasting two seasons, it was extremely popular in Michigan.

And as we look around the great lake states, we see what Michigan's neighbors consider the most popular TV show to take place in their state. 3rd Rock from the Sun is Ohio's choice, Parks and Recreation in Indiana, Shameless in Illinois, and not surprisingly, That '70s Show in Wisconsin.

Now that we've taken a look at what TV shows Michigan seems to favor, here is a quick list of television shows that are set in our great state.
