One month from today, Michigan workers making minimum wage will get a bit of a raise. January 1, the second stage of the gradual increase in Michigan will take place.

Currently, minimum wage is $8.15. That will increase to $8.50 on January 1, 2016 and then to $8.90 in 2017. The last stage will see minimum wage increasing to $9.25 an hour in 2018.

For those who work in the service industry (waiters, bartenders, etc.), they will see their minimum wage rise to $3.23 per hour on January 1. That will raise to $3.38 per hour in 2017, and to $3.52 per hour in 2018.
