Not getting permission to use the Survivor tune, “Eye of the Tiger,” hit Mike Huckabee where it hurts - his wallet.

As you might recall, the former Republican Presidential candidate used the Rocky III theme during a rally last September for Kim Davis, the Kentucky clerk who was jailed for refusing to issue same-sex marriage licenses. Problem is, Huckabee never got the okay to use the music, and Survivor sued him for copyright infringement.

At first Huckabee tried to claim the rally was a “religious assembly … signifying joy and praise,” since you don’t have to pay for songs at religious events, but then it was uncovered that the former candidate claimed fees from the rally as presidential campaign expense.

According to CNN Money, Huckabee eventually agreed to settle with Rude Music, which is owned by Survivor guitarist, and writer of “Eye of the Tiger,” Frankie Sullivan. Huckabee agreed to pay $25,000 for using the song, paying it off in two installments. The only reason the payment came to light is because Huckabee listed the settlement as a campaign expense on federal election records.
