Zimoun's entry into ArtPrize Eight has one of the longer names of this fall's competition, "250 prepared ac-motors, 325kg roof laths, 1.0km rope." It's also one of the loudest entries with 250 motorized wood beams repeatedly striking the floor at SiTE:LAB on Rumsey Street.

Motors and wood beams are a medium Zimoun has worked with many times before. His website says the works are meant to "articulate a tension between the orderly patterns of Modernism and the chaotic forces of life."

Just as photos of mountains never quite do them justice, this video doesn't give you the full experience of Zimoun's work. Watch the video to learn what this entry is and how it works, but this piece really needs to be experienced firsthand.

"250 prepared ac-motors, 325kg roof laths, 1.0km rope" is very loud. Crank up the volume as you watch the video. If the volume isn't loud enough to shake the floor, you're coming up short. In person, you can feel the wood beams shake the floor as they strike it.

Zimoun's entry is an immersive experience and one you could easily spend a lot of time in.
