‘Mystery Science Theater 3000′ Gang to Riff ‘Sharknado’ Live [Video]
One of my favorite shows is “Mystery Science Theater 3000.”
Sadly, it’s no longer with us.
The last episode that aired in syndication was over 10 year ago, but you can still find episodes online and on Netflix!
Fortunately, the guys from “Mystery Science Theater 3000″ (or “MST 3K,” as we fans call it) have continued to crack jokes and riff movies in some form since the show ended.
Former “MST 3K” members Mike Nelson, Kevin Murphy and Bill Corbett have joined forces as “RiffTrax” and offer their wise-cracking commentary as an audio companion to play alongside both current and classic films.
One of my favorite things about RiffTrax is sometimes they do live events.
It’s actually pretty cool!
The RiffTrax guys get on stage and riff the featured film in front of an audience which is then streamed live to theaters around the country!
I’ve been to two live RiffTrax events at Celebration Cinema! RiverTown Crossings:oOnce to see Reefer Madness and the other time the guys riffed House on Haunted Hill– both were hilarious! Just like old times.
This time around, the guys are gracing us with not one but TWO screenings of the absurdly awful Sharknado, and Celebration Cinema! will once again be streaming the performances.
RiffTrax Live: Sharknado will be broadcast live from the historic State Theater in Minneapolis to nearly 650 select movie theaters nationwide on Thursday, July 10, at 8 p.m. EST; with a second showing on Tuesday, July 15, at 7:30 p.m. EST
If you’re not familiar with the movie “Sharknado,” it’s about a town of beach dwellers who investigate an ecological nightmare that has sharks swimming through the streets of Los Angeles and falling from the skies.
The movie stars Tara Reid and former 90210 cast member Ian Ziering, alongside plenty of other B-list actors, and is hilariously awful. That’s really all you need to know!
