OK, so there's only one big release this week: the fourth installment in the robot-alien/explosions saga based on a 1980s cartoon.

Also out this week is the second installment in a four-part series of summer encores from New York's Metropolitan Opera.

Using the deceased Megatron's head as a blueprint, the U.S. government has created its own Transformers and is using them to wipe out the remaining Autobots, unless Optimus Prime and his new human ally can stop the extinction plan. Oh, and there are Dinobots. (See more about 'Transformers: Age of Extinction' here.)

Directed by Michael Bay

Starring Mark Wahlberg, Nicola Peltz, Stanley Tucci and Kelsey Grammer

Italian composer Giacomo Puccini’s opera score charmingly conveys the plight of Magda, who unexpectedly finds true love with the handsome young Ruggero. But their idyllic life comes to a premature end as she is haunted by fears that her checkered past will ruin his future. Nicholas Joël’s Metropolitan Opera House production features elegant and sophisticated art-deco sets contributing to the stage picture. Other releases in the Met Summer Encore series this summer include "Rigoletto," released June 18; "Otello," July 9; and "The Enchanted Island," July 16.

Directed by Nicholas Joël

Starring Angela Gheorghiu and Roberto Alagna
