The Grand Rapids Downtown Market announced Monday it is getting a new addition.

Social Kitchen & Bar, a Birmingham-based restaurant, will be coming to the market this fall.

WZZM-13 reports the restaurant will employ 70 people and should be open by the start of ArtPrize in September.

We carefully chose this location because Social Kitchen & Bar and the Downtown Market are places for everyone. They are both inviting spaces, focused on delicious, timeless food made from scratch. We are extremely pumped to open a restaurant in Grand Rapids, create a base for our catering operation, utilize some of the produce of West Michigan’s farm community, and join this incredible neighborhood of artisans.”

The Detroit Free Press reports that, like the Social in Birmingham, the Grand Rapids location will feature “refined comfort food” in a stylish, casual setting. It is expected to serve lunch and dinner, plus weekend brunch.

The final menu is a work in progress, but according to 100.5 The River, one item Chef Zack Sklar assured will be at the Grand Rapids location is their Crispy Brussels Sprouts appetizer. The appetizer includes almonds, capers, parsley, and garlic. It is one of the most popular dishes at their Birmingham location.

Social Kitchen & Bar at the Downtown Market will also feature an extensive craft beer, wine and cocktail menu.

“We are so excited. We’ve spent a lot of time looking for the perfect fit and we have finally found them,” said Claire Duthler, Downtown Market special events and leasing manager.

Social Kitchen & Bar will be located off of the main market entrance, serving as an anchor along with Slows Bar BQ, another restaurant coming from the east side of the state, which opens this spring.
