A newly released video is more a testament to the changing times than it is to John Lennon's dark sense of humor. Nevertheless, it's not something Lennon fans will be left very proud of.

No one will deny John Lennon’s musical genius, but most people who know the whole truth about him also know the former Beatle had a dark side.

A newly uncovered video shows Lennon mocking disabled people during a Beatles concert. He speaks with a speech impediment and awkwardly claps and stomps his feet.

All we need is love, huh?

Well, John pretty much got away with it because he lived in a different era. If something like this would have been recorded by somebody on Twitter, he would have been smoked and buried, just like Paula Deen, Hulk Hogan and Michael Richards -- among others.

“Times may have changed, but I always find it hard to believe how such famous people can have these horrible views about real people,” Lorainne Bellamy, a spokeswoman for the disability charity Mencap, told The Independent. "It's shocking and painful to watch.”
