The Tigers are in the Playoffs. Miguel Caberra won the Triple Crown. And the team the Tigs are playing won the AL West on the last day. The Oakland A's. And a pitcher for that team experienced the highest of highs, and the lowest of lows in a 24 hour period.

I will warn you, this a sad story. Pat Neshek pitched in the Twins system for a while, and 3 seasons ago he had to have major arm surgery. This season things were different. He caught on with the A's, and his wife was pregnant. She gave birth the day the A's won the division. Then, 24 hours later, everything changed.

"Please pray for my family. Tonight my wife & I lost our first and only son 23 hours after he was born with no explanation" was the tweet Pat sent on Thursday morning. His 1 day old son passed away the day after he learned he would pitch in the playoffs. As a parent, I cant even imagine what the Neshek's are going through.

Life isn't fair. Sometimes it just plain sucks. No parent should EVER have to go through that.
