We have to wait till Monday to see whether Ohio State or Oregon will be the champ on the gridiron, but the competition has already been settled in the classroom. After all, these are institutions of higher learning.

It probably doesn’t come as a surprise, but Ohio State is the clear academic winner.

  • U.S. News ranks OSU number 54 of all national universities. Oregon is 106th. It also puts Ohio State 18th among public schools and Oregon 50th.
  • Washington Monthly has the Buckeyes at number 18 and Oregon way back in 118th.
  • And Forbes – which lumps together all colleges and universities into one big ranking – puts Ohio State 155th and Oregon 235th.

For what it’s worth, Ohio State is tops among all four of the schools in the College Football Playoff, beating out Alabama and Florida State academically, as well.
