Halloween is a memory maker for kids. The fun of dressing up in costumes, trick or treating, parties, they're all part of the fun of Halloween. But, what about the children in hospitals? What do they do? West Michigan organizations and parents are making sure that a hospital stay or wheelchair doesn’t get in the way this year.
So, Hostel was a big deal in the day, coming in early on the torture-porn genre that swept the world for a few years. It wasn't the most amazing movie, but it did spawn a couple sequels, including one shot in Detroit! Hostel Part III. The least exciting, and probably least graphic, of the series.
I've been seeing a forwarded status floating around on social media about a group of people trying to make this Halloween "Kill A Pitbull Day". I'm usually kind of skeptical when I see these things, so I went to my most trusted source when it comes to all things Internet to find out if this horrible claim is legitimate - Snopes.com.
Last night, I watched what had popped up on my Google search on scary movies related to Michigan. I probably should have looked closer into this one, even though it has "Monsters" in the title. I thought, "Great! A monster movie!"
Nope...totally a crap movie that just happened to have monsters in the background.
This month, I'm covering some of the horror movies filmed or based in Michigan, to get you ready for Halloween. There have been a LOT of movies filmed or based here, and so far, we've covered some classic and recent movies. Next up, a more pop-culture scary movie, and the fourth in the series. Scream 4.
