Paul McCartney entertained over 12,000 fans at Van Andel Arena Monday night with a close to three hour set, spanning over 50 years of Beatles, Wings and solo classics.

Macca showed GR "a bit of a good time, a bit of a party" during his lengthy set at Van Andel Arena. The 38 song set was heavy on his Beatles catalog, as it has been for most of this tour.

John Sinkevics at LocalSpins.com said "(the) party leaned heavily, of course, on the robust catalog of The Beatles, or what McCartney dubbed in his Rolling Stone interview, 'a damn hot little band.'"

The Beatles accent was the emotional keystone of the show, which John Serba of MLive.com described as "(feeling) like a stadium show." Added Serba:

Yet perhaps Paul's strongest attribute had less to do with any recent performance, and more his gift as a writer of big melodies for songs that seem eternal. "I've been growing with you for 50 years," read a sign held up by a fan, a reminder that few things in life endure for so long: "Star Wars," maybe. A mother's love, probably. But a Beatles hook is forever.

Amen.
