Paul McCartney will apparently play graduations, especially if the graduate being celebrated is the son of his current wife, Nancy Shevell.

Seems, Nancy threw a party for her son Arlen at the Interlachen Country Club in Winter Park, Florida Saturday, and Paul decided to get on stage and join Josh Walther and the Phase5, the band hired for the evening.

Walther tells The Examiner that they were hired by Nancy for the event last year but until two weeks ago he hadn’t realized who would be at the party, until she casually mentioned it on the phone. Needless to say Walther couldn’t believe it, and on the day of the show shared with Facebook that he was nervous about performing for “the world’s biggest living music hero.”

McCartney apparently started out the night like any other guest, dancing on the dance floor, but during a break he asked the band if he could join them. First Sir Paul did an improvised song, and then they broke into “I Saw Her Standing There,” and several other Beatles tunes.

Walther added that Paul “was really complimentary of the band” and was “super nice and unassuming.” Walther even claimed Paul wanted to hang with them more but Nancy stopped him.
