Peter Frampton Luggage Thief Sentenced

A Denver man convicted of stealing numerous pieces of luggage, including some belonging to guitar legend Peter Frampton, from the carousel at Denver International Airport was given a 60 day jail sentence yesterday, according to the Denver Post.

The offender pleaded guilty to taking seven pieces of luggage from the Denver International Airport. But before John Allen Papelbon, 52, was shown the way to jail, the judge presiding over the case suspended the sentence so that the offender could work to repay $8,884 in restitution. Papelbon was also given two years probation for his actions.

Frampton was not the only victim in the case. When police searched Papelbon’s home, they found name-brand bags from Gucci and Polo along with a Philadelphia Eagles jacket, ski wear, golf shoes and computer equipment.

In retweeting the story from the Denver Post, Frampton appeared to have a sense of humor about the whole situation, asking “What time are visiting hours?”

Frampton’s window for visiting Papelbon in the slammer is limited given his upcoming run of shows with The Doobie Brothers, which starts June 22 in Cincinnati, Ohio. The legendary guitarist also has a number of solo shows coming up this summer that will bring him from one side of North America to the other before the touring season wraps up.
