Amid concerns of abuse, powdered alcohol is banned in Michigan before it even hits the market. By a landslide.

"Michigan has now taken a stand against a dangerous product so that it never wreaks havoc on our residents," Jones said. "During my time as a sheriff, I saw many young people tragically die due to alcohol poisoning, and I was deeply concerned that such tragic losses of life would dramatically increase if powdered alcohol were to be allowed in our state."

He found huge support among his colleagues. The bill passed the Senate unanimously and passed the House 102-3.

While I am not the intended audience of powdered alcohol, it's to be marketed to hikers to mix with water after a long hike, I'm not anti-palcohol.

Mainly because of this video that was released by Wired magazine earlier this year

Valid points are made. If you wanted to get drunk would you snort 60 lines, or take a shot. The choice is obvious.

I honestly feel the ban will give powdered alcohol the Streisand Effect (the phenomenon whereby an attempt to hide, remove, or censor a piece of information has the unintended consequence of publicizing the information more widely, usually facilitated by the Internet.)

I'm afraid that instead of being appealing to a niche market, suddenly people (kids) will be lured to try a Palcohol drink because it's banned.
