The winter storm that is expected to bring several inches of wet, heavy snow to West Michigan throughout the day Wednesday and into Thursday has barely begun, and power outages are already popping up.

Consumers Energy's outage map is currently showing a large area just outside of downtown Grand Rapids as being without power (estimated restoration time is listed as 3:30 p.m.), with more popping up throughout the city.

WZZM-13 reports that as of 12:15 p.m. Wednesday, at least 4,000 customers were without power.

Power outages are expected to continue throughout this storm with the main culprit of them being the wet, heavy snow falling on power lines.
