Tonight, FOX will rerun a New Girl episode from 2013 that included an appearance by Prince. When the script involved the show's characters attending a party at Prince's LA home, the Purple One submitted his personal party playlist to use. Here it is.

City In The Sky -- The Staple Singers

We get started with a little gospel tinged soul from the family that defined that crossover genre in the early '70s.

Country John -- Allen Toussaint

Toussaint, who penned hits for people as diverse as Glen Campbell and Three Dog Night, was as prolific a songwriter as Prince was, and this New Orleans sounding ditty is more ture to any other hit Toussaint ever penned, so why not?

Fire -- The Ohio Players

Did it get as funky as the Ohio Players in the early '70s? No, it did not.

Happy House -- Shuggie Otis

Otis may not be a familiar name, but he wrote the spacey 1977 hit, 'Strawberry Letter 23' for The Brothers Johnson. This song clocks in at a very short 1:05. Weird and wonderful.

Higher Ground -- Stevie Wonder

Like Prince, Stevie was a wunderkind who could write, produce and play all the instruments on a recording. 'Higher Ground' was a hit from his classic 1973 album 'Innervisions', which is considered one of his best.

I Was Made To Love Him -- Chaka Khan

Chaka covered Prince's 'I Feel For You' to kick start her comeback in the mid-'80s, so it would only figure Prince would follow up a Steveie Wonder track with this Chaka '70s funk cover of a '60s Stevie hit.

Listen To The Music -- The Isley Brothers

The Isleys were one of the '70s most decorated R&B bands outside of Earth, Wind and Fire, but this rarely heard cover of the Doobie Brothers hit is a curve ball only Prince could throw on a party playlist.
