John Lennon fans certainly have something to look forward to this summer. On June 9th, newly re-mastered vinyl versions of all eight of Lennon’s solo albums will be released in a new 9-LP boxed collection, simply titled “Lennon.”

And is it possible John Lennon is alive and well and living in Traverse City? A nutty story makes that claim.

All the albums were re-mastered from their original analog recordings, and will be produced on 180-gram vinyl, with the album cover art faithfully replicated for each record. The albums will also be available individually on Friday, August 21st.

With most of the Lennon albums currently out of print on vinyl, the release should be exciting for Lennon fans. The eight albums in the box set include: “John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band,” “Imagine,” “Some Time in New York City,” “Mind Games,” “Walls and Bridges,” “Rock 'n' Roll,” “Double Fantasy” and “Milk and Honey.”

If that wasn't enough news for Lennon fans, there's this weird story [PDF] that's been floating around the interwebs that claims Lennon faked his death and is alive and performing as a Lennon tribute act from Traverse City known as Mark Staycer. Mark Staycer has performed around the country as Lennon in various stages of his career for years.

Full disclosure: I worked with Mark Staycer at WSAM radio in Saginaw in the early '80s. He is NOT in any way, shape or form John Lennon, nor would he ever claim to be.
