We’re all hardened cynical adults now, but remember when getting close to your favorite ballplayer was just the best thing?

Watch as this Mike Trout fan gets his autograph in Detroit on Sunday.

Let me start with a story. One year, my dad took us to a Tigers game, and as usual, we stopped at his favorite Detroit bar, the Lindell AC, before the game. While there, a man saw us kids and offered him box seats for free for the game that night.

Normally, we sat in the bleachers, so being that close to the field was the coolest thing my 11 year old self could imagine. So when Tiger first baseman Norm Cash stopped in front of my seats and gave me a baseball, it took everything inside me to not cry from sheer joy.

That's exactly what this Mike Trout fan felt when his favorite ballplayer gave him an autograph at Comerica Park Sunday shortly before the Angels-Tigers game.
