Detroit Tigers Manager Brad Ausmus has been on the hot seat for while, and now comes the first rumblings that he will soon be history.

The Detroit Tigers tumble from the American League playoffs to the cellar of the Central Division is not sitting well with the team's front office, and now WDIV Channel 4 in Detroit is reporting that their inside source has told them Ausmus will be gone after the season ends at the end of the month.

The team already dumped its General Manager, Dave Dombrowski, in August following a huge trade period which saw the team trade its top starting pitcher, its best oufielder and its best bullpen ace.

Rumors surrounding former Minnesota Twins manager Ron Gardenhire taking the Tigers' job have been swirling since the team tumbled into last place late in August. Gardenhire took the Twins to six division titles while manager there from 2001-2014. Some baseball insiders say it's inevitable Gardenhire will get the job.

Ausmus took over from the retired Jim Leyland in 2013, and coached the team to the Central Division title last season, before losing to the Baltimore Orioles in the playoffs in four straight games, a performance which irritated Tiger fans. Ever since, Ausmus has been second guessed and criticized for the lack of fire in this year's team, which one of the most potent offensive lineup in the league.

If the story is true, it will be a long final two weeks of the season for Ausmus. I agree with SB Nation, who says if you're going to fire the guy, do it now and spare him the agony.
