Ridership for the Rapid is up 9%
Data has shown that use of public transportation has increased in cities across the US. Up 9% since last year, The Rapid had 400,000 more rides. The national data shows a 7% increase overall. On Sundays in particular, ridership is up 14%. The Rapid's COO, Brian Pouget said that they do see a direct correlation between the hike in gas prices and transportation use.
The transit is actually adding 33 bus stations up Division and The Medical Mile, in a 39 million dollar project. Pouget said that there is a high demand for transport to Michigan Ave. since the creation of so many jobs.
