RIP Mrs. Kotter (Marcia Strassman)

A beloved TV wife from the 1970s and '80s has passed away.

Marcia Strassman, who was Gabe Kotter's wife on the '70s TV show "Welcome Back, Kotter" died on Sunday from a fight with breast cancer. She was 66 years old.

She was also the mom from the Disney movie "Honey, I Shrunk the Kids," with Rick Moranis. While she had numerous roles from "M*A*S*H" to "The Patty Duke Show" and others, she was best known as Julie Kotter on the popular ABC show "Kotter" from 1976 to 1979.

"“She was the funniest, smartest person I ever met,” said Julie Strassman of her sister. “And talented. She knew everything. Now I won’t be able to call her and ask her questions."

News of Strassman’s death first emerged in online posts by long-time friend, "Curb Your Enthusiasm" director Bob Weide: “So sad that a sweet friend, kind person & wonderful actress Marcia Strassman lost her brave battle with cancer today.”

She's survived by her daughter, New York costume designer Elizabeth “Lizzie” Collector, whom Julie Strassman called her sister’s “great love.” She is also survived by a brother, Steven Strassman.
