Rockford students have a lot to celebrate!

The Rockford High School marching band was chosen to march in the famous 2017 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Mlive.com reports that creative director of the parade, Wesley Whatley, stopped by the high school Friday (4/15) morning to surprise the marching band students with the exciting news.

Out of about 200 applicants, Rockford was one of ten marching bands that were chosen to represent their respective states in the parade.

Whately said:

"The band approaches its performances with both sophistication and artistry. This is a very competitive process and Rockford is at the very, very top of its game."

In 2015, Walled Lake Central represented Michigan by having the honor of marching in the Macy's Day Parade.
