Remember the documentary film "Scared Straight"? Young juvenile delinquents were taken to a prison and threatened by inmates in hopes to get them to to turn their lives around. Well, apparently, Moms use this as a strategy to scare their kids using threats of being on Santa's naughty list.

After reading about an Indiana mom using a letter from Santa to try and right her daughter's naughty ways, Jojo decided to see if he could use Santa to scare a kid straight over the phone.

It seems like  a guaranteed way to get your kids to stop behaving like monsters, especially in the coming days.  Evansville, Indiana mother-of-two Kandi Sue Vincent had had enough of her daughter Lydia’s naughty behavior, but instead of punishing her, she used the threat of Santa to her advantage.

"She hasn't been very well behaved," said Kandi. "I saw someone on Facebook who wrote their child a letter from Santa. My husband and I thought it was a good idea so we decided to do it."

So Kandi wrote little Lydia a note from Santa on fancy paper, and had her daughter read it aloud “I am sending you this letter to let you know that as of right now you are on the NAUGHTY list,” it read. “You have 10 days to straighten up and behave to try to get back on the NICE list. This means no more smacking your sister, or talking back to your parents, you also need to clean your room.” Finally, it ended with  “I will be watching and getting reports from your parents, I had them give me access to the cameras in the house so I can keep a better watch. I’m watching, Santa Claus.” OK, that’s a little creepy.

Well, needless to say little Lydia was stunned.  "She was quiet at first and then she said, 'I have nine days to get on the nice list,'" Kandi told ABC News.

I decided to see if this actually worked. Notified by listener Rhonda that her daughter Madelaine had been acting up, I used my connection with Santa to give her a phone call.

It didn't sound like Madelaine will be changing her ways anytime soon. Sorry about that, Mom.
