Matt Hendricks

Grew up Petoskey Michigan… and for the last 13 years – have made Grand Rapids my home. I love it here, and the people are great too. I started in Radio as snotty nosed teenager, and going on my 14th year in radio in West Michigan! I’ve lived in all four “Quadrants” of Grand Rapids, but now reside on the West Side with my Dog, two cats, 13 pinball machines and my grand piano. Love hockey, football, auto racing, playing the piano, singing, live music, theater and being outdoors – and love exploring West Michigan and new places. I’m THRILLED to be on Classic Hits 98-7 from 10-3 Every day. Drop me a line anytime!

Is It Ok to Use Coupons on a First Date? [VIDEO]

Okay, we all live in "Frugal" West Michigan,  and I came across this video, so the question is really quite simple, is it bad to have a coupon on a first date? I personally think it's a little tacky.

Forget a date -- what if it were business? If a manager took you out to dinner, and used a coupon, would that bother you? If it were a job interview, would that tell you something about the manager? Can you think of another situation where it's better to leave the coupon book at home?    Do coupons really a bad thing or just a sign of the time?

‘Just Remember I Love You’ by Firefall – Classic Hit or Miss

The self-titled Firefall, released in May 1976, became Atlantic Records quickest album to reach Gold status. The group's first single, "Livin' Ain't Livin' ", stopped just short of the Top 40. In the following months the band toured with Leon and Mary Russell, the Doobie Brothers and The Band.

The band's next single, "You Are the Woman", made the Top 10 and the band began touring with Fleetwood Mac, who were at the beginning of their commercial peak. Their next single, "Cinderella", though it reached the Top 40 and was played extensively on FM radio, did not fare as well on AM radio because of its controversial lyrics which caused feminist groups to pressure the stations to avoid playing it. However, this did not have a lasting effect on the band's sales.

Grand Rapids Taxes FALL

Well, it's small, but it's something.

The change in garbage and the  weak  housing market mean you will pay less in taxes next year if you live in the city!

Part of the drop in the millage rate is a result in cuts to the refuse tax

Texting While WALKING Now Illegal [VIDEO]

A town in New Jersey has banned texting while WALKING. Yes, I'm not making this up. This may seem a little extreme, but at the same time, I've done something very similar before - I actually ran into someone walking on the street a few months back because I wasn't watching where I was walking

West Michigan to Get First Major Wind Farm

This is actually a VERY cool story. I never understood why we didn't do more of this seeing as we are the great lakes state, but now it looks like we are finally going to.  Muskegon is set to get a huge wind farm investment over the next couple of years. With gas and energy prices soaring, I say go for it!

Ode To Clucks Cash

Okay - I know it's tough to win Clucks Classic Cash - $1000!   Vicky Sadowski knows this first hand. Vicki is an everyday listener to WFGR - which I appreciate it.  She was feeling a bit frustrated about not being able to win the cash thus far, so rather than getting angry... she turned to what any normal person would do... poetry!
