Steve Labenz

Growing up in suburban Detroit, Steve’s earliest memories are of Motown, blues and rock coming from his ever-present radio.  While in high school, Steve worked at Cousino High School’s WPHS radio and interned at the legendary (now defunct) WABX in Detroit.  Landing a job as a roadie for the Sugarcubes, Steve moved to Iceland with the band and earned his permanent radio operators license through a correspondence course he saw advertised on a napkin.  A chance at his dream job brought Labenz back to the States and Steve did the morning farm report on a Waxahachie, Texas station for 17 years while he raced flat track motorcycles in his spare time.  Steve takes his helmet off long enough to do weekends at WFGR.

Of course, looming over the quintet is a sequel prequel in the third series of "Planet of the Apes" movies.

30 Years Ago: Ray Parker Jr. Releases ‘Ghostbusters’ Theme Song [Video]

By Corbin Reiff | The Boombox

Thirty years ago, when the producers of the now-classic supernatural comedy ‘Ghostbusters’ were in the need for a catchy theme song for their nascent film, there was only one man they thought to call; Fleetwood Mac guitarist Lindsey Buckingham. Luckily, when that fell through they reached out to Detroit’s own Ray Parker Jr., who went on to write one of the most recognized title themes in cinema history.

By Matthew Wilkening | Ultimate Classic Rock

Mötley Crüe premiered a new song titled "All Bad Things" on Wednesday night during the opening show of its farewell run The Final Tour in Grand Rapids.

Obviously, the recording of the song played at Van Andel Arena isn’t a band-endorsed, audiophile-quality recording. However, even in such rough form there’s enough to make us very curious to hear the studio version of this track.
