Like Charlie in 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory', someone in the greater metropolitan Grand Rapids area is holding a golden ticket.

The ticket has five of the six numbers from the latest Powerball drawing, and while it isn't worth 1.5 billion dollars, a million bucks is nothing to sneeze at. Three others in West Michigan are holding tickets worth $50,000.

The big billion dollar prize will be split between ticket holders in California, Florida, and Tennessee, but according to the Michigan Lottery, five people in Michigan are holding tickets which had five numbers matching, and will win one million dollars each.

The tickets were purchased at the following locations:

  • D&W, located at 6425 28th Street Southeast in Grand Rapids
  • Horton Depot, located at 389 South Moscow Road in Horton
  • Freedom Valu Center, located at 405 North Stephenson Avenue in Iron Mountain
  • Admiral gas station, located at 805 South Mitchell Street in Cadillac
  • Beacon & Bridge Market, located at 820 North Saginaw Street in Holly

Which means someone in GR is quietly aware that they've won a million bucks. Or are they? Maybe they tossed it out accidentally with the grocery bags? That would suck.

26 others around the state will get $50,000 payoffs for matching four numbers. Three of those tickets were purchased in West Michigan at the following locations.

  • Family Fare, 993 Butternut Dr., Holland
  • Meijer, 3700 17 Mile, Cedar Springs
  • Meijer, 746 E. 16th St., Holland

If you missed it, the winning Powerball numbers were:

04-08-19-27-34, with the powerball 10.

Now check those tickets! And lend me some cash!

As for the rest of us...
