There's no need to spell it out -- this move was nasty.

During Thursday's Scripps National Spelling Bee, Nihar Janga, 11. was caught shaking his head and then clapping right in the face of Jairam Hathwar, 13. Yeah, this may be the closest we'll ever get to scholastic tween trash talking. It's some A+ taunting.

It certainly looked mean, but the two definitely had no ill will, especially because they tied for the title. It's the third consecutive year there have been co-champions. For their efforts, they won $40,000 and other prizes. Can you spell college savings?

The winning duo topped a field with 284 hopefuls. Interestingly, Jairam's older brother was a co-champ back in 2014.

Winning, meanwhile, was more than Nihar could comprehend. "I'm just speechless," he said. "I'm only in the fifth grade."
